Andres Sugrovia
by Justin Clow
- Andres Torres Segrovia, the 1st of Marquis of Salobrena
- Born on the 21st of February 1893, passed away on the 2nd of June, 1987
- Segrovia is from Andalucia, Spain
- He is famous for playing flamenco style since the age of six years old. He later moved onto expressive art-music such as Torroba.
- Andres plays classical guitar, and was one of the first to use nylon strings instead of using gut strings
- Some features that make Segrovia stand out among other guitarists are his expressive method of preforming and shaping music using multiple devices (rubato, fermata, rallentando, and accelrando); he won the 1958 Grammy award for Best Classical Performance, Instrumentalist; and also his unique technique for blending two playing styles (nail and pad) together for a special performance of timbre and tone.
- Segovia is considered to be great because he was found by most scholars to be the Father of the Modern Classical Guitar Movement; he brought guitar studies to all the major universities, and his impeccable musicianship and influencing technique, as well as his immense passion for the classical guitar.

I really like how he is still able to play so well at such an old age, and I like how clean the songs sound, every note he plays sounds perfect. I also like how in his performance (3rd link) he is the only person on stage, just him and his guitar.

i like how help can easily speed up with his hand and then slow down. i also find it interesting that he does not use hammer ons.
