Jimi Hendrix
- Born November 27th, 1947 in Seattle Washington
- Known for playing psycadellic rock with a heavy blues influence.
- Played a number of electric guitars, but mostly identified with the fender Stratocaster
- Hendrix was a very innovative guitar player. He was one of the first guitarists to use fuzz pedals, wah wah pedals, and univibe, producing sounds that had never been heard before. He used amplifier feedback to increase his sustain and transformed the way musical phrases could be approached on the electric guitar. He was also known for being able to play the guitar with his teeth, as well as behind his back.
- Hendrix is considered by many to be one of the greatest guitarists of all times. He was incredibly innovative and unique, and almost every guitarist in rock and blues has been influenced by him since. He was able to play fast runs and demonstrate incredible technique while still playing musically and connecting to his early blues roots. He transformed rock and roll and was one of the few African American artists of the time to gain acceptance with white audiences, opening the door for many others.
