Style: American Country and Western

Type of Guitar: Steel string acoustic

Unique Qualities: People such as Johnny Cash have been inspired to cover his music, He has a style of finger picking named after him, He is in both the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame

Great Qualities: He won a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental for a duet with Chet Atkins, He played in a wide variety of roots music genres as well as many genres of country and western, He was one of the earlier guitar players to do it and was known for his rich chord progression, harmonics, slides, bends, and rapid changes of key.

  5. merle is a very good electric acouostic guitar player. He uses a lot of hammerons and his sound is calming and serene yet upbeat as well. His note range is imaculate and he is good at finger picking. :)

  6. I really like Merle Travis. I love country music and that is a great style and technique. He changes up the tempo and technique but still keeps the insanely fast picking to make you even more interested!!!! Good Job!! Judy
